This is the single most common complaint we hear at the counter, and the answer is rarely the one people expect. Before you blame the bottle, work through these four things.
1. Check the concentration, not the price
Most affordable perfume sold in Pakistan is eau de toilette — roughly 8 to 12 percent fragrance oil, the rest alcohol and water. Once the alcohol flashes off, there is very little left to smell. An eau de parfum sits around 15 to 20 percent. Johar blends sit at 30 percent and above, which is why two sprays behave differently from six sprays of something thinner.
A bottle that costs more is not automatically stronger. Read the concentration if it is printed, and if it is not printed, ask.
2. Dry skin cannot hold fragrance
Fragrance oil needs something to cling to. On dry skin it evaporates almost immediately; on moisturised skin it has somewhere to sit. An unscented lotion on the wrists and neck before spraying genuinely adds two to three hours of wear, and it costs nothing to try tomorrow morning.
This is also why the same bottle lasts longer on some people than others. It is not the perfume being inconsistent.
3. You are spraying in the wrong places
Pulse points — the inside of the wrists, the base of the throat, behind the ears — are warm, and warmth pushes fragrance outward through the day. Spraying into the air and walking through it looks elegant and wastes most of the bottle.
And do not rub your wrists together. It feels natural, but the friction and heat destroy the lighter top notes in seconds.
4. Put one spray on fabric
Skin is porous and warm, so it burns through fragrance faster than cloth does. A single spray on a shirt collar, a dupatta or a scarf will still be there tomorrow. This is the oldest trick there is and the most reliable.
5. Consider an attar instead
If you have tried all of the above and still lose the scent by afternoon, the answer may be to stop using alcohol-based perfume altogether. An attar is pure parfum oil on a sandalwood base — nothing to evaporate, nothing to burn off. A single dab on the wrist routinely runs past fourteen hours.
The short version
Moisturise first, spray on pulse points from six inches, add one spray to fabric, and do not rub. If your bottle still vanishes after that, the bottle is the problem — and no technique will fix a thin blend.
